I ended up watching 'Driving Lessons' yesterday because Rushan had something on in the family last minute. Made me realise I really love going out alone. I was already out and on the bus since I had changed, so I messaged Jiamin to see if she was free. But, well, she was not. So I decided to catch the movie I had missed the other time.
Ben: "But you're in the middle of nowhere!"
Evie: "Then I'll cling on to the edge of somewhere!"
It was a strange but nice show, full of British humour and accents. Without subtitles, I had to strain my ears a bit because the character Evie speaks really fast. Ben is this weird and uptight kid with an equally uptight and crazily religious mother. He's brought up in a family where he was taught to be a true Christian. Well, I'd say it's not that this movie teaches you not to be a staunch Christian, it just tells you that you should shout "Fuck Off" when you need to.
I always thought that one should not use religion to justify their actions. Everything you do should be a personal choice. Like when you ask someone "Why are you a vegetarian?" and they say "I'm a Buddhist". It just doesn't really answer the question.
Anyway, before the movie, I got the new dark mocha frappucino at Starbucks. The person asked if I wanted whipped cream. I thought for a while and said yes sheepishly and was immediately overwhelmed with guilt. Haha, coz whipped cream is fat-heavy. But, god's will. This other lady took my mocha frap by mistake (I think she had like no idea what she ordered) and the person had to do another one for me. I thought it was a god-sent hint so I told the person I'd do without the whipped cream instead. Haha.
On the mrt home, I couldn't help staring at this guy's butt. His back pockets were really weird and they looked like two evil eyes staring right at you. So I stared back, until he sat down with his friend on the seats beside me. Then I couldn't help overhearing what they were talking about.
Evil pockets: "Can you picture Shirley as your wife?"
Normal guy: (pauses for a moment) "No."
Evil pockets: "Can you picture Karen as your wife?"
Normal guy: Maybe yes.
Evil pockets: Can you picture Catherine as your wife?"
Normal guy: (immediately) No.
Well, this went on for dunno how long with Evil pockets churning out random English names at speed rate that I wonder if these women really exist. Wow, they have so many female friends. I wonder why, since they looked like...sh**. I was looking at their reflections in the mrt windows while I listened in on their conversations.
Then evil pockets said: "I don't think you can get any wife without any braces"
OMG. I nearly laughed out loud.
WTH.
It was really a strange and nice day. or night. to be precise.

Disco Disco Good Good

It's fortunate I didn't enjoy Zohan that much, otherwise I would be really embarassed to admit it. Most of the movie is slapstick humour, and it would be ok if it was in small doses. But, they literally just brought it on! LOL. Sometimes I cringed in my seat, with all the lewd jokes and all the "banging" and grinding. Can't stand such a movie lah.
But if you're a fan of these movies, then you should catch it. Otherwise maybe just watch it at home, with a player or some downloading site. Well, at least you can choose "stop" whenever you feel like it. And that, I guarantee, will be real soon.
Still, I love the accent. Haha. I like how Zohan pronounces "Israelis" and "Palestinians". Googoo.
Though maybe if there was a movie like "You don't mess with Manmohan" about the President of India, ah, maybe I'd like that more. Politics...mmmm...
P.S: It's so windy out there, I hope it's one of those "nice to sleep" nights.

No longer in a relationship? Ha.

The facebook function which you can indicate "Sososo is currently in a relationship with sososo" and "Sososo is no longer in a relationship with sososo" can be such a bane for those people who hook up and break up on an on and off basis, doesn't it? I sometimes wonder who the hell initiated that function?
So, how long do you have to be in a relationship to change your status on your social network site? Having just got into a relationship, it does not seem logical to immediately declare to the whole world that "Hey, look here, I'm in a relationship!" Yet, it does not seem right in any way too, if your partner refuses to make it known to everyone that he's attached to you. You want the rest of the girls to know that guy is taken, regardless of whether he's cute or nude or not.
Anyway, doesn't it hurt when someone who has just broken up with her boyfriend, and is nursing a broken heart, has to take the initiative to nullify the 'attached' status. Gosh, it must take a lot of courage. And imagine if it was your lost boy who changed it first, it's a second slash at that already torn-up heart.
Well, I'm just trying to say: "Huang Jia Min, no way am I going to tell the world that I'm currently in a relationship with you." Even though it's fake. Go get a boyfriend yourself. LOL.
P.S: Hulk was soso. but appearance of Iron Man at the end was uber COOL

Phantom of the Past

It's kind of funny actually. That I lost my ezlink card, because I haven't lost it since Secondary school I think. I was at Somerset MRT, and I find no card in the Guess, and Ms Lai had to wait for me on the other side, when I fumbled through stuff in my too-small bag, trying to look for the card.
In the past, I would freak out big time, but this time, I was quite calm and collected. I walked to the ticketing machine, and discovered there was only two 50 bucks in the wallet. Well, obviously, SMRT looks down on rich people, coz the machine treats 50 bucks as rejects. Ms Lai only has 10 bucks, and apparently the machine only loves 2 bucks and 5 bucks. Luckily, there was good ol' 7eleven, and I got some small change. But damnit, I haven't seen a single ticket since don't know when. I've decided to keep it. No thanks for the refund.
I can still remember vividly the look of disbelief when I asked the bus uncle how much I had to pay for 4 stops. Guess he must have missed that question a lot since hardly anybody will ask that question anymore, unless you've lost a card like me.
Yet, it's funny because I realised I always lose my card when I'm with Ms Lai. Or to put it in a better way, everytime I lose my card, I'm with Ms Lai. LOL
Anyway, on a side note, Sex and the City was LOL too. Great laughs. It was so typical me that I found the most touching part to be the part when Carrie's assistant aka Jennifer Hudson receives a true blue Louis Vuitton bag from her. Imagine the euphoria!!!!I nearly teared. Hee. Maybe I should be a personal assistant, it sounds like fun too. Doing sai gang, which is love.
Finally, fashion in the show was hits and misses. But some were really good, like this white dress that Carrie was wearing.:)

Life?

This has been a weird week. For the first time, I truly realised how hard it was to lead life without talking to my mum. We were trying hard to spite each other and the feeling was unbearable. It came to the stage when I wasn't even angry at her anymore, and I knew neither was she, but nobody wanted to take the first step in mending the faultline. But, I'm glad it's over and we're better than before after a good talk. Ha. Since in the first place, it was a really small problem.
I went out alone on Tuesday, for a perfect day out and was disappointed when it started raining on the train ride. Twas hoping for the rain to stop and it did! Voila. The movie, Black Book, showing at the Picturehouse was superb. The plot is really good and I was totally absorbed in the show. And for 6 bucks only. Reminded me of Lust, Caution, it was as audacious as Lust, Caution and I even thought it was better than the Chinese version coz it went all out. I'd said catch it, before it's gone from the big screen. There's another new one coming on in June starring Rupert Grint and I might be watching that too since the tix is so cheap.
Bought two vintage tops from a shop in The Cathay and they were goddamn cheap. One was 20 bucks only. Gosh. They look oh-so-suitable to wear on my next big great escape, TAIWAN! (Can't believe so soon!) Then, I walked to Bugis, hoping to exhaust my Oktomat's film on the way, though I failed. Wasn't much to take. Walked around Bugis Junction. Shopping was ok, but food was good! A lot of new food outlets and the food junction has so much variety. Love there just for the food! Wootx.
Anyway, these few days, have been making some last minute planning for Taiwan, doing some currency exchange and collecting my tickets. :) Have been paying attention the Chees vs Lees case too, and me and Yi Ling had a fervent discussion about the saga at our lunch yesterday too. Well, if I have to take sides, I'd stand by the Lees, cause they appear too intelligent to fault them for anything, if I look at it objectively as a court case, and not from a political standpoint. But, well, I derived my stand from a narrow perspective derived from the Strait's Times daily reporting. Well, oh, well.

Dreams and Reality
I dreamt of the old you,
and it reminded me
of how long it has been since
since I don't know when
Then I realised,
I do not know how to remember you
do not know how to remember the you you are now
Maybe vaguely,
vaguely.

I went to the gym without Ms Lai today, since she is overseas. It was quite mundane, and I especially hated the rowing machine, because it made the 10 minutes seem like forever. I tried singing as I worked out, and it actually helps pass time, though it's not easy. And i went easy on myself, since I've not fully recovered.
So excited, it's Seow's birthday tomorrow. Don't forget your red rose! :)
Anyway, above is a sketch I drew using my sister's pen. It's surprisingly good for sketching. A bit inspired by Sex and the City, which I'm totally looking forward to.
Meanwhile, nobody wants me for I.J. I shall watch it myself then. BOO.

The First Escape
Last weekend, I went for my first ESCAPE with the bunch of crazy fellas. I don't reckon that you could say it was a great escape destination, and the people there felt so Singaporish, it's hard to reconcile with the fact that I was away from sunny island. But, the company, was of course, great great great.
Firstly, I absolutely adore long bus rides, because buses are really nice to sleep in. I slept on and off, and halfway, we stopped at a food centre pitstop for a quickie. The neighbours "betrayed" the bunch for a supposedly nicer breakfast, in the form of prata love. Aiyah, but it wasn't that good either. I grabbed a dose of news for a quick read on the bus, but most of the time, I didn't understand the Malaysia local news, so it became quite boring. Though I do regret not bringing the piece of New Straits Times home for keepsake.
My shopaholic side acted up when we were at the jetty. This sunhat caught my eye and dear SSM decided to pay for it! Free shopping. I love. Then we went on a rollercoaster ferry ride, which everyone felt was horrid. Ah long and Dajie took the brunt of the hard ride, but I was lucky to escape the consequences because of a hardy stomach and a motion sickness pill.
Actually, when I reached the kelong, I felt that we seemed to be at a loss, not knowing what activity we should start off with first. The hardcore Mahjong people like JIAMIN indulged in their favourite pastime. I slacked around, took photos, caught a fish, went for island-hopping, and played lame games. The highlight of the day was the karaoke, I felt. We are naturally buay pai seh, because we sing loud loud for the whole kelong to listen. Damn shiok!
KKJ jokes and hotboy jokes kept us laughing throughout the trip. Really got no hot boys man (The Jonathan really no count)!
Anyway, I could still get 987fm on my radio. So, on the way home, I plugged in all the way and managed to catch the Travis rendition of "Oops I did it again". Magnificient! :)
Well, well, these few days at home weren't great, since Im down with flu and cough. Had to miss shopping on the first day of GSS and the JCRC meeting. With my siblings, I keep talking bad about my friends. Im a meanie, you see. But they reciprocate with their own stories, which keeps things fun. LOL. Huang Wei Ting is away in M'sia now, and we kinda miss her, bleah.
I had a teeny quarrel with my mum this afternoon, and now, I've decided I'm going for alone shopping and movie on Tue. For some therapy. Ha.
,
And who wanna catch Indiana Jones?
P.S: Im contemplating a new Laogong.

A Suitcase Story
See, it's a suitcase story. But, believe it or not, it wasn't done on purpose to match the theme of The Great Escape. It's just pure coincidence. Guess what, I finally caught The Darjeeling Limited on DVD.
It's hard to pay attention to the story's plot when these suitcases lying around really captivates. They're of all shapes and sizes, and shit man, they're all limited design pieces from Louis Vuitton. I read this somewhere in Time some time ago. The interior looks really intricate too, it's as if they paid attention to every single detail. I'm thoroughly impressed.
It's a quirky and eccentric story and I liked Adrien Brody's character best. But, I don't know why. Anyway, they are really weird brothers who get up to really weird stuff. But then, everybody's weird, aren't we?
I'd remember the line: "We have not located us yet."
But, it's still kinda dry lah. Though i'd always choose a quirky film over any other blockbuster.
By the way, I got tired of the rest of the series, so I started on a new one. Not entirely new, but Gossip Girl looks hot and would suffice for the moment. The guy Dan Humphrey in the show is hot stuff.
Til' then, you know you love me.
XOXO
Another Gossip Girl
